WAICY India is an online competition for Indian schools & students which engages them to learn and use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to solve real-world problems.

AI researchers around the world are harnessing the power of AI for a sustainable future. From solving the toughest environmental challenges to becoming the first line of defense in Healthcare to saving species & our forests from extinction and the list goes on endlessly.

At WAICY India students will be inspired to come up with their own practical solutions & applications of AI for a brighter tomorrow.

The World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY) competition is open to students from ages 7 to 18.

WAICY India aims to bring AI to Indian students and spark creative, innovative, and artistic demonstrations of the technology that can make the world a better place.

WAICY India is open to every school student from India (From Grade 3 to 12) Participants have to represent only their school!

WAICY is also about teamwork and collaboration & therefore we encourage you to take part as a team of friends and peers. Really cool things happen when we have group participation. Please use this to register your team.

Yes. We encourage children from different grades to work together in a team according to their categories. For e.g., under category AI for Earth for Grades 3 to 7, a child from grades 3, 5, and 7 can form a team together. And we encourage teams to have both boys & girls.
Any number of teams from one school can participate in the WAICY competition.
The participating team has to submit a YouTube video of maximum of 3 minutes and send the same to WAICY India. The last date to submit the video from the participating school team is 14 October 2020.
Yes since competition is online, you can participate remotely.
No, there are no prerequisites. Once your Team is registered, you can get access to free tutorials as well as mentorship from the AI School of India team.
Yes the teams participating in WAICY India will be mentored, assisted, and guided by us. Students can take the help of their school teachers to be coaches. However, the coach’s role is to facilitate the preparation only. Therefore, coaches are not allowed to be part of the demonstration, presentation, or engage in the Q&A. If the organizing committee or the judging panel rules that any coach’s involvement is beyond the reasonable limit, the team will be disqualified immediately and no certificate will be awarded.
WAICY India competition will have judges from the USA & India. More details on rubrics will be published shortly.

School teachers from participating schools will be given a 4 hour online AI Learning Experiences training via Webinar absolutely free of cost.
Every registered team member who has submitted their final project will receive a WAICY India participation certificate and this will include the name of their school too.
WAICY India prizes are awarded to successful competitors. There are three classes of prizes: First Prize awarded to the winner; Second Prize awarded to the first runner-up, and Third Prize is awarded to the 2nd runner up. Additionally, the winning teams will get a chance to compete in the online or in-person WAICY USA competition at their own cost, as and when the travel opens.
The granting of prizes and all decisions of the Judges and WAICY India with respect to the competition are final and binding on all competitors. Further, all competitors agree that grant of Prizes is subject to and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India with the exclusive jurisdiction of Chennai Courts and no other courts will have jurisdiction.
